Kilimanjaro Safari at Animal Kingdom

Disney World’s Kilimanjaro Safari Ride at Animal Kingdom

If you’re looking for a unique and exciting way to experience wildlife while visiting Walt Disney World, look no further than the Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This ride is one of the park’s most popular attractions, and for good reason. Here’s everything you need to know before you go.

Animals You Can Expect to See:

One of the most exciting things about the Kilimanjaro Safari is the variety of animals you can see. The safari takes you through a simulated African savanna, where you’ll see animals such as lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinoceroses, and more. The animals are free-roaming and often come right up to the safari vehicle, giving you an up-close view of their behavior and natural habitats.

The Kilimanjaro Safari is one of the best places to see lions up close and in their natural habitat. During the ride, you’ll have the chance to see both male and female lions lounging in the sun, or even interacting with one another. It’s important to note that while the lions are behind a barrier, they are still wild animals, and visitors are not allowed to leave the vehicle at any time during the ride.

Best Time to Take the Safari Ride:

The best time to take the Kilimanjaro Safari ride is early in the morning or later in the afternoon. During these times, the animals are most active and the temperatures are more comfortable for both the animals and guests. Also, during the hotter parts of the day, many animals may retreat to the shade or other areas of the savanna that are harder to see. If you’re looking for a truly unique experience, consider booking a special sunrise or sunset safari, where you’ll have the opportunity to see the animals during their most active times and capture some amazing photos.

Wait Times:

The wait times for the Kilimanjaro Safari can vary depending on the time of day and the season. During peak times, such as holidays and weekends, you can expect to wait up to 90 minutes or more. However, if you visit during the week or during slower seasons, wait times can be much shorter. We were able to get on the ride within the first 30 minutes at park opening by heading directly to Africa. It’s always a good idea to check the My Disney Experience app for up-to-date wait times before you go.

Overall, the Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a must-do attraction for animal lovers and anyone looking for a unique and exciting experience while visiting the park. With a little planning and patience, you’ll be rewarded with unforgettable views of some of the world’s most amazing creatures.
