Lighted Drones to Illuminate Night Skies at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is set to showcase an exciting new feature at its 71st edition this year, with the introduction of mesmerizing lighted drone displays. On July 24 and 27, Starlight Aerial Productions will dazzle audiences with up to 500 state-of-the-art drones in vibrant nighttime performances at Wittman Regional Airport.

The renowned Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) fly-in convention, which will run from July 22-28, is known for its spectacular air shows, and this year’s night events will be elevated with the addition of these high-tech aerial spectacles. Starlight Aerial Productions, based in Michigan, will present a stunning array of light displays and animated sequences, creating an enchanting visual experience against the night sky.

Rick Larsen, EAA’s vice president of communities and member programs, expressed enthusiasm for the new addition: “Drone shows have emerged as a marvelous way to add technology, color, and entertainment to nighttime events, and for us, it’s a perfect complement to the skill and excitement brought to the legendary Oshkosh night air shows by our aerobatic pilots and aircraft. This addition will make the night show even more memorable in 2024.”

The performances will feature American-made Lumenier ARORA drones, equipped with LED lights capable of producing over 4 billion color combinations. These drones will execute intricate animated sequences synchronized to a musical score, offering a dynamic and immersive experience for attendees.

Starlight Aerial Productions’ parent company, Great Lakes Drone Company, first showcased drone technology at Oshkosh in 2018. Since then, advancements in drone technology have allowed for more complex and efficient performances. “Today’s drone shows are pushing the boundaries of aerial entertainment and creating moments that leave an indelible mark on the heart and mind,” said Matt Quinn, CEO of Great Lakes Drone Company. “The Oshkosh shows will celebrate human ingenuity as a testament to the unyielding spirit of exploration that aviation embodies.”

Details regarding the Starlight drone shows will be announced as they are finalized. For additional information about EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, including ticket purchases and event updates, visit [www.EAA.org/airventure](http://www.EAA.org/airventure) or call 800-JOIN-EAA (800-564-6322).
